It’s hard to believe Fall is with us! 2021 has seemingly flown by and lasted forever at the same time! While Fall is normally one of my favorite seasons for makeup, things are a bit different this year. Whereas I normally go for heavier makeup applications, this year, I have gone lighter and have been obsessed with obtaining a radiant and glowy complexion. In this post, I will share my dry skin makeup must-haves for a glowy Fall with you.
Makeup Must-Haves:
- Primer: Smashbox Vitamin Glow
- Foundation: Make Up For Ever Reboot Active-Revitalizing Foundation
- Concealer: Hourglass Vanish Concealer
- Highlighter: Mac Pro Face Palette: Illuminate
- Eyeshadow: Natasha Denona Bronze Palette
- Lip: Fenty Gloss Bomb in Hot Chocolit
Primer: Smashbox Photo Finish Vitamin Glow
The Smashbox Photo Finish Vitamin Glow Primer is a primer. It is a crucial makeup must-have if you want glowing skin. I discovered this year and have been absolutely loving it! The primer is formulated with good-for-skin vitamins like Vitamin B, C, and E and also contains hyaluronic acid, an ingredient good for dry skin. It is priced similar to other mid-range makeup primers at $39 for a 1 fluid ounce bottle.
I recommend this primer because it does a good job of keeping my makeup in place throughout the day. And while I don’t believe makeup products can take the place of a good skincare regimen or a healthy diet, I do like that this one has some nice skincare ingredients in it as well. Lastly, and most importantly, the glow! I like that it gives the skin a healthy (read as not greasy or oily) glow that lasts throughout the day WITHOUT accentuating the skin’s texture. If you are on the market for a new primer, I definitely recommend you give this one a try!
Foundation: Make Up For Ever Reboot Active-Care Revitalizing Foundation
Make Up For Ever’s Reboot Active-Care Revitalizing foundation is a newer liquid foundation that purportedly provides 24-hour brightening, smoothing, firming, and hydration to the skin. It is an important makeup must-have to keep. The brand notes that makeup artists created this foundation to help eliminate the signs of tired skin on models at fashion shows within minutes. While I can’t attest to all of that, I have loved the moisture and glow from this foundation! It comes with a pump, 1.01 fluid ounces of product, and is available in 24 shades for $39.
The Reboot foundation is my Fall pick because it is very moisturizing and gives a healthy, dewy radiance to the skin while feeling relatively lightweight. I think these qualities make the foundation perfect for cooler Fall days regardless of whether those days are spent outdoor or in a heated indoor environment. It also provides a very natural skin-like finish that is buildable, in my opinion, to medium coverage, which makes it a nice everyday foundation for those with slight discoloration or scarring on the face. So, if you are on the market for a new foundation that will give you a nice hydrated and glowy finish, I highly suggest giving this one a try.
Concealer: Hourglass Vanish
The Vanish Concealer is a newer release by Hourglass from earlier this year that is definitely a splurge purchase. This is because it retails for $34 for 0.02 fluid ounces of product!
I recommend this concealer for the Fall. This is because it is lightweight, moisturizing, does not crease, and does not accentuate texture and fine lines under the eyes. Furthermore, as a full-coverage concealer, it covers my undereye darkness but does so without making the undereye area look super dry. A bonus for me is its ease of application. Two dots under each eye, a quick blend, and I am good to go. Using such a small amount of product also means the concealer can last longer than lighter coverage concealers that require more product. While I do love this concealer, I think it is probably best to purchase it during a sale! It can be found at Sephora, Hourglass, or Beautylish.
Highlighter: MAC Pro Face Palette: Illuminate
The MAC Pro Face Palette: Illuminate is a cream highlighting palette that consists of 4 shades:
- Starry Opal
- Malted Milk
- Goldie Lush
- Peach Plush
I took a chance and ordered the palette recently during a sale and have been enamored with it ever since! Now, it is my favorite makeup must-have.
I recommend this product for the Fall because I am a firm believer in the use of creams for dry skin, especially in the cooler months. Furthermore, I find the creams provide a nice glow while also NOT accentuating the texture present on my cheeks. Each shade is very quick and easy to apply and looks nice against my brown skin. Also, since the palette contains 4 shades in a fairly small palette, it is quite versatile and is great for travel (Whenever we do that again). MAC also notes the colors can be mixed to make new highlighting shades that fit your need. If you would like to try it, it is available for $40.
Eyeshadow: Natasha Denona Bronze Palette
The Natasha Denona Bronze Palette has been my favorite and most-loved purchase of 2021! As a brown skin girl, it is rare to see a higher-end brand outside of Pat McGrath Labs release a palette in which EVERY shade shows up on my skin tone, but this palette does just that! The Bronze palette consists of 15 eyeshadows:
- 5 creamy mattes
- 4 metallics
- 4 duochromes
- 1 chroma crystal
- 1 cream-to-powder shade
I recommend this eyeshadow palette this Fall because the color story consists of burnt oranges and reddish hues, as well as coppers and bronzes that just scream, “It’s Fall!” I also recommend it because it can be used quickly to give your lids a glowy look without too much effort, but it also contains a few deeper shades that can be used to create rich smokey eyes that are stereotypically Fall. I will be doing a full post dedicated to this palette. So I won’t go into too much detail here. But I definitely recommend it for gorgeous resplendent eye looks this Fall! The palette retails for $65 and can be found at Beautylish.
Lip: Fenty Gloss Bomb in Hot Chocolit
The Hot Chocolit Fenty Beauty Gloss Bomb Universal Lip Luminizer was originally released during the Holiday season of 2019 as a part of a mini gift set by Fenty Beauty. However, earlier this year, it was re-released as a solo full-sized product that consists of 0.30 fluid ounces of products and retails for $19. We highly recommend keeping this makeup must-have.
I recommend the Hot Chocolit Gloss Bomb this Fall because Fenty Beauty just does glosses right! Like the other shades, this formula is thick without being too thick and provides a nice beautiful shine to the lips. The thickness makes it perfect for the Fall as it keeps the lips feeling moisturized in the cooler air. Furthermore, the glosses wear well and feel nice on the lip without giving that icky sticky texture. The shade Hot Chocolit, in particular, is a brown-tinted gloss tinged with what looks like burgundy glitter that provides shading that is quite picturesque in the Fall. It can be found at Fenty Beauty or Sephora.
